2009-09: Nine members of the Division of Functional Product Development staff participated in the 17th International Conference on Engineering Design (ICED’09), which was held at Stanford University, CA, between August 24-27 2009.
In total, the division contributed with nine conference papers, co-authored with colleagues from Stanford University (US), University of Bath (UK), Grenoble Institute of Technology (FR), Politecnico di Torino (IT), and Politecnico di Milano (IT). Further, Andreas Larsson chaired a session on “Development of Educational Programs & Globalization”, Tobias Larsson was chair for a “Design Representations” session, Peter Törlind moderated a session on “Platforms for Collaborative Design”, and Ola Isaksson chaired a session on “Product Innovation & Technology Development”. Also, the division contributed with four members of the Scientific Committee (Isaksson, Larsson, Larsson, Törlind), and Peter Törlind was a co-organiser for the ”Workshop on Design Observatory Research.“
In conjunction with the conference, the Swedish Product Innovation Engineering program (PIEp) organized a Summer School, which drew 14 PhD students from 6 Swedish universities. Christian Johansson from the Division of FPD was one of the participants, receiving a stipend that covered his participation in both the conference and the Summer School. Peter Törlind and Andreas Larsson took part in the Summer School as part of the organizing team.
