New project; methodology for energy efficient transmissions

2009-09: Divison of Functional Product Development in collaboration with Volvo Construction Equipment, Volvo Powertrain and Linköping University of Technology have been granted the project “Fuel Efficient Transmission Technology Concepts: Design Methodology” within the VINNOVA program “Fordonsstrategisk Forskning och Innovation” (FFI). The project budget is 18 MSEK 2009-2012 and aims at improving the process from concept to detailed solution, with extra attention to energy efficient solutions.

RESEARCH APPROACH

The research will mainly be carried out by PhD candidates, with supervisors as support. At LTU there will be a focus on product development methodologies and knowledge engineering, while LiTH will focus modelling and simulation of control systems and system components.

“A challenging and interesting project, especially the environmental focus. It shall also be great to work with LiTH again, it’s been a while”, says Tobias Larsson, professor at Functional Product
