Leif Östling, president and CEO of Scania visited LTU

Leif Östling, President and CEO for Scania, visited research labs at LTU during thursday. He started the tour by stopping by Machine Elements Tribolab, one of Europe’s leading experimental facilities in tribology, presented by Professor Roland Larsson.

Tobias Larsson, professor in Functional Product Development presented the research within product development where the experiments are of more virtual character and method and process development for a better concept development is in focus. The new Experimental Studio was displayed, intended to serve as research facility for development of “future engineering work models”.

Finally, Anders Ågren, professor in Sound and Vibration presented their facilities and research with some interesting demonstrations of sound design.

After the presentations the group discussed new initiatives. A discussion that took place over lunch and where also LTU Vice-Chancellor Pia Sandvik Wiklund took part as host.
